this painting is relatively small compared to the usual~ i had so much fun with this bright piece, clocking in around 200 hours of working on her. for me, she’s been a self-study of moving through love, what it means to fall in love while untangling old habits from previous loves— i love the term ‘acid wash’, a process commonly used by bleaching something to make it appear worn-in…and the irony of using something like bleach (that completely strips away all that is..almost like an act of purity) in attempt to promote comfortability. and similarly in relation to love, how easy it is to subconsciously fall into old patterns of past love to feel the safety of familiarity, stripping away what’s actually there in attempt to create comfort for ourselves~ rather than build something completely new..and trust that real comfort is brought with time. much love to you and your healing journey 🤍.
